The dining experience at Shoho was unforgettable! We savored an incredible kaiseki dinner that was both a feast for the eyes and the palate, featuring beautifully presented dishes. We also loved the spacious room that offered stunning mountain views, making our stay even more enjoyable.
If I had to nitpick, the location is a tad remote, but no biggie—staff quickly arranged taxis that arrived in under 10 minutes. Also, the traditional dinner was massive, and if you eat lunch beforehand, be ready to wave goodbye to that pristine plating!

Had an authentic Japanese experience during our stay. The room was a traditional tatami area which was really unique, and we loved the open-air bath. The highlight was definitely the dinner, which was a 10 course meal served in a private room. it was overwhelming at first, but so enjoyable once we figured it out. For those with a car, it’s a breeze to explore nearby sites like the Matsumoto City Art Museum and Yamabe Winery.

Family with children will love it
The onsen amenities were great! There’s this amazing foot bath outside where we watched the sunset while sipping tea, it was like something out of a movie.
It wasn’t cheap, we felt the pinch but ok.

Location slightly out of town.

missingWrote a review on May 27unpleasant odorlimited air conditioning
Central air conditioning only allows for fan speed selection, making it uncomfortably hot at night!!! Unpleasant smell in the entrance area likely from nearby toilets and inadequate luggage space in the room makes moving around a hassle!!!

The Japanese-style room offered a stunning view of the snow-covered mountains, creating a picturesque backdrop for the stay. The onsen facilities were exceptionally well-maintained, providing a relaxing atmosphere with high-quality bath products. However, the central air conditioning was only adjustable by fan speed, leading to discomfort during the night. Additionally, the limited luggage space made it challenging to navigate the room with our bags, and there were instances of limited staff availability during peak hours.
